Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Emotional regulation. Specifically designed for dual-diagnosis care, DBT provides the tools needed for distress tolerance and interpersonal effectiveness, helping you manage intense emotions without drugs or alcohol.

What Dialectical Behavior Therapy involves
Dialectical Behavior Therapy was developed for people who experience emotion at high intensity, and it has become a central approach in dual-diagnosis treatment for exactly that reason. Where CBT asks what you are thinking, DBT focuses on what to do when the feeling is already overwhelming.
It is taught as a set of concrete skills across four areas — distress tolerance, emotional regulation, mindfulness and interpersonal effectiveness. The aim is a reliable alternative to substance use in the moments that previously left no other option.
What to expect
Distress tolerance
Specific techniques for getting through an acute crisis without using, and without making the situation worse.
Emotional regulation

Built for co-occurring conditions
DBT is a core part of our dual-diagnosis programming, not an optional extra.
